A competitive start to the Unaffiliated Dressage 2015 Spring Series

PVS Unaffiliated Dressage 2015 Spring SeriesAs the deep frosts from earlier in the week gave way to milder weather our Unaffiliated Dressage 2015 Spring Series got underway at the Yorkshire Riding Centre. The competition was very well attended with some great combinations on display demonstrating that it is still possible to turn-out well schooled horses and ponies, despite the unforgiving weather conditions of the past couple of weeks. It was great to see a full variety of competitors, young to ‘not so young’, experienced and the ‘just getting going’ but all having fun and enjoying the relaxed atmosphere of Pennine View Stud events.

The early honours were taken by a developing combination of Fiona Bain and Bugatti with nearly 75% in Intro A and another score in excess on 70% in Prelim 4. Fiona is a usual feature in the placings when it comes to the overall final standings in our unaffiliated dressage series and it looks like she is part of another winning combination. Fiona was back riding in Prelim 13, this time she was on the comeback trail with Sugarhill Triffle, a joint winning combination in the 2014 Spring Series. Unfortunately Triffle has been out of work due to injury for a long time and Fiona was unsure if they would ever make it back but they have with a stunning win gaining a score over 70%. An emotional but welcome return, congratulations.

Around the successes of Fiona we were treated all day to some exhilarating and accurate displays of dressage riding. Amelia Hall on Tom’s Paintbox won Prelim 12 with 70.14%, Julie Fawley on Just Samuel winning Novice 24 with 67.31%. To finish a long day, Abigail Taylor riding Tommi had back to back wins in Novice 34 (70.63%) and Elementary 44 (64.60%) .
